Iowa City-Coralville

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How much does it cost?

A: We have a continuing service fee of $25.00 This covers all office and registration Procedures. We have a recital fee of $65.00 This helps to cover the cost of our annual performance. Each family receives 6 tickets to each show their dancer performs in.

We base the annual tuition on 30 classes per dance year September-May. Our classes begin at $288.00/year. We have a star student and star family program. Costume prices for each class are $58.50 for children and $67.50 for large child through adult. The cost of the annual fee and costumes are added together. Your total annual cost is then divided into 9 equal payments. The average cost of a single class including costume is $40.00 / month. This is the same monthly payment regardless of how many classes are in that month. Some months have 3 – some have 5.

Q: What happens if for whatever reason we decided to drop?

A: If you let us know before Nov 1 all recital fees and costumes fees are refunded. Class fees are due through the month of the drop notice. If after Nov 1st the recital fee and costume fee is due in full. Class fees are due through the month of the drop notice.

Q: How big are the classes?

A: PS and KG classes are no bigger than 12. All other classes are full at 16. Michael and Ashlynd's classes will always be larger but there will always be two teachers in the room. Hip Hop classes can be larger as well. The average size for all classes is 10. We have classes with as few as 4.

Q: What do they wear?

A: We have a fully stocked dance shop at each location that does carry everything your dancer needs.

We appreciate if the hair is up and anchored to the head.

In ballet all girls wear solid colored leotards and tights. They may wear a ballet skirt. They need pink ballet shoes.

In jazz they wear their leotard and tights and can wear a jazz pant also. No jazz pants are allowed in ballet class. Jazz students wear black jazz shoes and we prefer the slip on ones for students that have trouble tying shoes.

Tap students need black tap shoes. They may wear a pant as long as the teacher can see the ankles and feet completely.

Hip Hop may also wear a pant and need black hip hop sneakers.

Lyrical need ballet attire with a carmel pedini.

Boys wear a pair of black dance pants and a white t-shirt for all classes. They wear black ballet slippers; black jazz shoes for jazz and lyrical, and black hip hop sneakers.

Q: What happens if we miss a class?

A: You have one month to make that class up in a class your teacher or the office suggests. We appreciate you letting us know when you will be absent. The make up class is an option – not a requirement.

Q: Do we get to observe?

A: Our doors have glass so there is observation through the doors. Occasionaly our teachers feel class time is more productive with blinds on the glass closed. Teachers love to show the progress classes are making and will open the blinds as they feel necessary Parents are not allowed in the classroom during the class time but encouraged to watch through the doors at their leisure. We have a sitting area if you choose to wait.
